Viscom 101: the fundamentals of graphic design for scientists
Scientists are professional communicators. Whether we are generating figures for a grant proposal, teaching a course using Powerpoint, or making a conference poster, our science can be conveyed more effectively when we use graphic design tools and understand the fundamentals of visual communication (viscom). When those skills are absent, grant agencies may be less likely to fund us, students more likely to fall asleep in class, and potential future employers could pass us by during poster sessions.
By clicking the links to the right, you can learn about some of the fundamental principles of visual communication. When you're done, head to the poster design page and apply your skills. |
